Saturday, April 16th the boys’ lacrosse team played Mount Olive High School. But this wasn’t an ordinary game. This game was dedicated to raising money for the Wounded Warrior project. Played under the lights at MRC, they game attracted a much larger crowd than usual.

The atmosphere of the game was tense according to one player because the game was so close. In the end the team was able to secure the win. “The energy of the crowd was completely positive. Everyone was definitely excited to be there and the fact that it was such a close game brought that much more energy,” junior Riane Monaghan, “seeing everyone decked out in all black to support such a great cause was extremely heartwarming.” Another junior, Cara Smith, commented that “it was close, so it was a really fun game to watch.

The purpose of the wounded warrior project is to raise awareness and enlist the public’s aid for the needs of injured service members, to help injured service members aid and assist each other, and to provide unique, direct programs and services to meet the needs of injured service members. The lacrosse team was able to raise funds for the Wounded Warriors Project by selling t-shirts at the game. The t-shirts were sold for $15 apiece and they were black to go along with the blackout theme, and had both the Wounded Warriors Project logo and the Madisons Boys’ Lacrosse team logo.
