The NBA all-star weekend was given a pleasant surprise when 14-year-old New Orleans native Jarrius Robertson stepped onto the scene. Jarrius suffers from biliary atresia, a rare chronic liver condition affecting only 1 in every 15,000-20,000 people at birth. At the age of just one year old, Jarrius had a liver transplant that left him in a coma. The doctors took the respirator away, but Jarrius miraculously began breathing on his own. He ended up surviving, but had his growth stunted as a result of the disease. Despite Jarrius´ condition holding him back from a normal life, he somehow manages to keep a funny and inspiring personality. His personality was on full display when he was hanging out with some of the NBA stars. Videos of hilarious interactions between Jarrius and NBA players have been videotaped. Among these include one of Jarrius and Draymond Green trying to organize a trade for Draymond´s watch in exchange for his own chain, and him discussing the things that the Thunder will need to do to make the playoffs with Russell Westbrook.

Jarrius even had a chance to show of his basketball skills in the celebrity all-star game. The celebrity all-star game often tends to be a long and unexciting game as celebrities participating in this game generally are not very skilled athletes. But, Jarrius stepped onto the court for one play during the game and got the crowd on its feet. After getting the ball, Jarrius showed off his handles before sinking a shot. You can see the full play on the official NBA twitter account.

Jarrius has a very touching story and is still in need for further medical treatment. You can donate to Jarrius´ cause on his GoFundMe page:
