Color A Smile Day of Service
This past Friday Madison High School students took part in the school’s annual Day of Service. During the DOS students get to sign up at various projects throughout the town to help better the community. One of the projects that was offered on DOS was Color a Smile, which is a non profit organization that sends pictures colored by young children to the elderly and United States soldiers. Most pictures have specific themes like different holidays or seasons so that the person receiving the pictures can a different one every month.
For DOS, the students helped sort the pictures into specific piles based on the holiday and season the picture was affiliated with. Next some students worked on folding up pictures so that they would be ready to be stuffed into mailing envelopes by other students. Additionally, students worked on stamping envelopes with return addresses so they would be one step closer to being mailed. The students made gigantic progress for the organization by sorting all the photos into specific holidays and seasons.
During the DOS, MHS students got done what would have taken the couple who run the organization weeks to complete themselves. The couple were so thankful for the help and support of the MHS community. The students on the service project of Color a Smile accomplished a lot that will help to cheer up hundreds of people in the near future.
