Will Trump Take Home the Republican Nomination?

Future US President?

While Trump has set out to beat Hillary Clinton and become the next president, his current goal is to win the republican nominations by securing the necessary 1,237 delegate votes. His win this week in New York has brought him closer to this goal and made it all but impossible for his rivals to reach the 1,237 mark, but it’s far from guaranteed that Trump will reach the magic number. With 15 primaries still to come, the required votes may be within reach, but Trump will first have to step up his game. Although Cruz came in a distant third in New York, he has still managed to beat Trump in recent primaries and shows no signs of giving up.

So what are the upcoming primaries to watch? Indiana and Nebraska are both “win or take all” states and could help put Trump right over the top. California also has 172 delegates up for grabs and Trump is expected to pick up a sizable portion of those. Of course all bets are off if no one reaches 1,237 and if that is to occur, what will happen at the contested convention in July is anyone’s guess. Trump will argue that he deserves the nomination because he has the highest number of delegate votes while others think it’s a matter of whether he’s presidential material.
