Throughout the 2018 season, there has been some very high tennis being played, especially from players such as Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, and Juan Martín del Potro.

The article “Who Has the Best Shots in Men’s Tennis?” by Christopher Clarey, shows which players have been having the best shots, and who continues to dominate the tennis courts. For example, the article first mentions that Federer has the best forehand in the game, with Nadal a close second. The articles state, “While Nadal’s forehand was the winner for former tour players and coaches, Federer’s was the overwhelming top choice by current ATP players. Overall, del Potro was a strong third. No one else was genuinely close.” Federer was also mentioned as the player with the best net game, once again, followed by Nadal. However, the player named with the best movement is Djokovic, with Nadal coming in second, and Federer coming in third. Finally, Nadal was named the player with the best mental game, then followed by Djokovic, and then Federer. In short, each of these players has different qualities, that makes them unique, and a great opponent.

Brendan Fowler, a senior at MHS, mentions how he believes that Rafael Nadal is his favorite player and that Nadal has the best shots out of any tennis player. Fowler comments that being the best tennis player is tough, “it varies a lot based on who is injured, but I think at this point, [the best player] is not Federer because he is getting old.” However, he also mentions that Federer is by far the most legendary tennis player. Fowler explains that Nadal is the tennis player with the best shots right now because of the incredible amount of spin he can put on the ball. Furthermore, Fowley believes that since Nadal is a lefty, that gives him an advantage against that other players as there are not many people, who are lefties, that are just as good as him.

In conclusion, each tennis player, playing at the elite level, has a different style of playing. Consequently, this often leads to many unexpected games, some being very close, while some being complete blowouts. There are many ideas that must be taken into consideration when seeing who is the best tennis player, or who has the best shots in tennis. In order to be considered the best, one has to look at who is playing the most aggressive, hitting powerful shots, while simultaneously being very smart about the decisions made, and remaining consistent. During the 2018 season, Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic have been playing incredible tennis, they have all had some incredible shots so far, and will hopefully continue to do well.
