Faculty Night Live 2016 Recap

The second annual Faculty Night Live, hosted by the Student Council and emcee’d by history teachers Mr. Bernich and Mr. Cecala, was a success this year, taking place on Thursday, April 28th. The night was filled with performances from both students and teachers, as well as hilarious videos and games.

The show opened with a video featuring Mr. Maseker interviewing Joey Trump and Bernich Sanders, and then featured sophomores Elizabeth Monkemeier and Mitra Sharif performing “Show Goes On”. Next, a game of “Who’s Behind The Curtain” was played, and Ms. Wahle, Mr. Largo, Mrs. Monkemeier, Mrs. Gentile, and Mr. Braine all participated. Following this game, Mr. Largo and Mr. Braine sang a wonderful duet, Total Eclipse of the Heart.

Other student performers included Brian Culligan, Andy Jung, and Whitney Xu in their band’s performance, as well as The Sitting Ducks, a band featuring MHS students Rob Bazaral and James Mikula. A well-kept secret of MHS, our own a capella group, A Capella Anonymous,  performed two selections, with soloists Elizabeth Monkemeier and Grace Van Cleef. Grace Van Cleef is the founder of the group.

Other videos were shown, including a “What’s In Your Purse?” video, featuring Mrs. Bergen and Mr. Bernich. There was also an “Identifying the World Leader” video.

One of the highlights of the night was seeing Ms. Wagner perform two Rolling Stone songs with a band of students:  Grant Claytor on guitar, Dylan Goldstone on bass, and Max Haupt on drums. They called their band “Ms. Wagner and the Psychologists”.

Another presentation of the night included a slideshow of teacher look-alikes, according to Google. One of the favorite teacher look-alikes was Coach Lynott and Patrick Stewart, from Star Trek. Following that was a teacher tribute, made up of photos of MHS’s favorite teachers. Another video was seen soon after, featuring Mr. Fisher, Ms. Papa, and Mr. Cecala. The video, as called by Mr. Fisher, was “a video about sniffing things”, things being, in particular, candles. Mr. Cecala was the only teacher who was correct in identifying the candles’ scents.

The night came to a close with student Sean Purnell, known as Pe$o, who rapped for the audience. Pe$o is always a fan favorite. Following Sean’s act, Mr. Bernich and Mr. Cecala came onstage to thank the audience and everyone who helped make Faculty Night Live 2016 a success. The night ended with Mr. Bernich’s dab, which may well have been the highlight of the show.

Thanks to everyone who supported our faculty and staff at this year’s Faculty Night Live. It was a blast!
