Snowpocalypse 2015: “The Blizzard”

Two+feet+of+snow.

“Two feet” of snow.

Waking up in Madison on Tuesday the 27th, most residents were expecting heaps and piles of snow. However, that wasn’t the case. The anticipation of this “blizzard” caused all Madison school districts to call an early dismissal on Monday and no school on Tuesday. When I woke up on Tuesday morning, not much else accumulated other than what was already there the day before. Northern New Jersey expected to have between one and two feet; and actually received only half a foot, making this “snowpocalypse” very disappointing. Many schools have already called off school Monday through Wednesday, wasting all of their snow days on a “blizzard” that only caused a few inches.

All of my friends, especially Emma Stechschulte, were very disappointed: “I was looking forward to being snowed in with snow that was up to our waists. I was hoping we would even have a delayed opening on Wednesday. But now I have to actually go home and get a start on my homework.”  My sister was not only disappointed with this weather but  also angry. Coming home from working the night shift Monday night at Morristown Memorial Hospital she said, “Every single surgery was called off today because of this “blizzard.” Calling off all surgeries can cause a hospital to lose millions of dollars even if it’s just for a day. So many businesses lost money preparing for this storm and lost money because of work days cancelled.”

This may not be the weather channels’ fault, but it is definitely frustrating for those who went through a lot of trouble only to have close to nothing happen, especially for North Jersey and Madison. Other states like Massachusetts and New York did get what was expected; a whopping two feet while snow continues to fall. Take advantage of this snow day, and unfortunately, see you all in school on Wednesday.
