The Madison Track and Field team is coming off a strong season from last year. Both the girls and the boys teams won the Liberty Divison Championship, and the girls won the school’s first sectional title since 2009. The team has hope this year that they can come out with early success that builds to a repeat conference championship.
Standout on the boys side, Ron Tucker stated: “We’re going to try and focus during practice, going to take the weight lifting seriously and do everything we can to try and emulate the success from last year and make sure everyone is trying their best.”
There are many factors that may have led to the Dodger’s success last season that can translate into this season and some returners that are looking to build on their performances from last year. They include Rohan Tucker, Maxwell Curry, and Philip Nateal from the boys team. The girls team included Kate Mack, Isabella Bolstad, and Ava Fass.
This year the Dodgers have a very competitive schedule, starting off the season on December 19 with the “Drew University PV-HJ-Shot Put Invitational Field Meet #1”, and then the “Len Pietrewicz Invitational” on December 26th. Once December is over they have the SJTCA #12, Rebel Shot/Field Series 5, and Ocean Breeze Elite Invitational. While all of these are going on the Dodgers are going to be working hard at practices and making sure recovery is a main thing they think about.
“It’s easy to pull muscles during races, that is why recovery is important as well as stretching. We take ice bath’s and make sure our muscles are ready for all of the running that we will be doing for the next few months.” Rohan Said. With having strong practices and workouts while paring that with recovery the Dodgers should be set with having an impressive season.
