The boys tennis team went absolutely wild in the 2024-2025 season. They ended the season with a strong 18-5 record overall and 8-0 in the NJAC Independence Conference. More importantly they ended the season with a 3-2 sectional title win against Mountain Lakes.
After a brutal loss against Haddon Township, the Madison tennis team is looking for vengeance this year.
However, it’ll be harder for them to reach the position they were in last season because of the amount of talent that graduated.
Some names include Brody Dineen, Luke Cimino, Tyler Toto, Toon Janssen, Scott Sullivan and Dashiell James. They all had crucial roles in the team’s run.
So in order to repeat the success they had in their previous season, returning players from that team have to carry the torch and step up this year.
One specific player that needs to and already has stepped up is Belgian Raphael Joiris.
He was paired up with Dashiell James in his previous season and played 2 1st Doubles matches with 1 win and 1 loss. He also played 16 2nd Doubles matches with Dashiell James and won 11 of them.
He also played one singles match last year and lost. However, this season it looks like there won’t be much of that result anymore.
In his first match of the season, Raphael Joiris had a dominant 2nd Singles win against Siddharth Vadali with a score of 6-1. He and the team are hoping to see more results like this.
Another player that was very important in their previous sectional title is Bryce Curey. Curey had a very good 2nd singles stretch winning 6 of 10 matches, but was really dominant in 3rd singles winning 9 of 10.
At the start of this year, Bryce Curey also started off a win against Randolph’s Kaushik Kanugula.
Four other guys who had a really good showing out in their first match of the season are Remy Noualhac and Christopher Wu, who pulled out a victory in the 1st Doubles match, and Joseph Koczara and John Balassi, who pulled out a victory in the 2nd Doubles match.
The Madison tennis team had an overall 1-4 victory over Randolph. This may be the beginning of a very fun and powerhouse season.
