Teo Bengtsson is a Senior captain on the Madison golf team; he is a four year starter on the State and Sectional championship team and placed 4th individually in the State Sectional tournament.
Teo is more than just a great golfer; he is a great person and an even better leader. I have been able to talk to many players on the team who state that he is welcoming to new players. New player on the team, Noah Reichman, said, “Teo’s advice has been valuable as I’m new to golf. He always offers tips that help me improve and feel more confident on the course.” This is just one way he is able to connect with the new players and the team to help them bond and grow as one. This can help them grow more and more chemistry in such an individual sport. Also, talking to more and more kids on the team, you can tell that Teo is one of the biggest players and role models on the team. Hudson Flemming said, “Teo’s leadership on the golf team really shows in how he keeps us focused and pushes each of us to do better every day.” This just shows his impact on the team and every day in practice and matches to encourage all of his players.
Teo ever since his freshman year has been able to make an impact right away by being in the 6 rotation. He has been able to grow as a player and leader with all of the experience he gained. As the number 2 last year as a Jr he is looking forward to filling a big role of Alex Patel an individual state champ. With the 2nd most rounds on the team he is able to bring back his match experience and game play to the younger and new players on this 6 man rotation. With an average score of around 1.204 over par. With his lowest round being a very impressive 2 under par in one of his matches. He looks to keep his momentum going from last year into the new season.
He has said he is excited and definitely ready for the challenge that it will bring for this season. He also stated that the team has the same goals as the year before with winning the group 1 state championship back to back.
