Coming off of a very successful indoor track season, Madison High School’s spring track and field team is gearing up for a highly anticipated spring season. The team is being led by strong athletes Rohan Tucker, James Castanon, AJ Eldridge, Emma Cipriani, Kate Mack, Isabella Bolstad, and Nicole Driscoll. With such strong student leadership the team is sure to go the distance.
But, this year’s team has more depth than just those 7 athletes, the team is filled with very talented athletes both who are on the Track and Field. And the team would be lost without great coaches like Nick DeGennaro, head coach of the girls team, and Coach Carol, the head coach of the boys team, who have been the track coaches for many years. Both of these coaches surely know how to get the best out of all their athletes and it is clear in the team’s results.
As previously mentioned, one stand out runner is Isabella Bolstad. Bolstad is coming into this season with the hope to break some more school records. But, this goal does not seem too far out of reach, as Bolstad just this winter broke her previous school record in the 800M with a time of 2:17.07. Bolstad is currently in the process of committing to a D1 program to continue her career.
Another stand out runner is Rohan Tucker who is very excited for his last high school season. But, don’t worry, Madison High School is not the end of Tucker’s career, he will be continuing his career at Coastal Carolina University. Currently, Tucker specializes in the 100M and 200M events, but he also runs almost every other race. Most recently Tucker broke the school’s 400m record with a time of 49.22. It is certain that Tucker can not be contained and is expected to make great strides this season.
Just 3 weeks into the season the team is very excited to be starting their season off strong with their first dual meet at Mobeard on March 31 at 4:00. Make sure to support the Dodgers in this great match up.
