Cal Regan, a key defensive player on the Madison Highschool boys lacrosse team is finishing up his last season before he heads off to play division 1 lacrosse at Drexel University. Regan started his lacrosse career in fourth grade playing on the Madison recreation team. In sixth grade he began to play more competitively and joined the lacrosse club NJ Riot.
While Regan is great on the lacrosse field, he also shines in the fall on the soccer field as Madison’s varsity soccer starting goalie. In the winter, Regan takes on the basketball court as one of the starting forwards. As a three sport varsity athlete it is clear why Regan is able to accomplish so much on the field.
Although Regan is a great three sport athlete, lacrosse is his favorite for many reasons. Regan loves the sport for its “fast and competitive nature” while the “up and down game play” on the field keeps him going. Specifically, Regan plays close defense, one of the hardest and most vital positions to play in lacrosse. The physical aspect is his favorite part of the position as he uses his long poll stick to get ground balls and check the opposing offense.
Next spring, Regan will be continuing his lacrosse career at Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Drexel is ranked in the top 50 schools for D1 lacrosse. Regan chose Drexel for its appealing business program and his own good fit for the school. His club recruitment coordinator is thanked for helping him the most with his recruiting process.
This season Regan already has 6 ground balls and is hopefully going to pass 100 this season after getting 91 last year. Regan says he has already improved on communication with team mates and is continuing to improve on all aspects of the game. Regan is one of the three captains on the lacrosse team this year leading the underclassman and future Madison lacrosse team. There is no saying this season doesn’t look promising for the Madison Boy’s Lacrosse team thanks to Cal Regan.
