The 2024-2025 season was one of the roughest seasons for Madison Girls Softball. The team had just lost a group of starting seniors as well as one of the strongest pitchers in Madison history, Charlotte Tuhy. Last year, the team consisted of two seniors, two junior captains, and multiple sophomores and freshman, a young team with untapped potential just waiting for the right moment. Now, the Madison Dodgers are holding a winning record in the midst of the spring season, consisting of strong statistics and an even stronger team.
Leading the Dodgers are seniors Anna Bochner and Cameron Takafuji. Being on varsity for four years shows their consistency and their strength as leaders on the team. Anna Bochner plays catcher, keeping junior pitcher Georgia Mock consistent on the mound. Anna holds an incredible batting average of .577, keeping opposing teams on their toes when she steps to the plate. Cameron Takafuji runs the outfield with her dominating speed as well as her baserunning. Cameron plans to attend Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, New Jersey to play collegiate softball.
The captains aren’t the only ones running the show. Junior Meghan Harter has put up five home runs over the course of three games while also playing first base. Freshman Alexa Haviland and Maggie Patrone control the middle infield while also putting down consistent hits offensively. Junior Georgia Mock stands on the mound with a career total of 59 strikeouts and her fellow sophomore pitcher Shannon Hagovsky was recently named Player of the Game by 78 Sports after striking out 6 batters against Boonton.
After beating Mendham 12-11 in the Morris County Tournament, the Dodgers now hold a winning record of 8-7. The Dodgers have put last season in the rearview mirror and are focusing on maintaining a strong record for the remainder of the season on their new dirt field on the MHS grounds. Junior pitcher Georgia Mock tells us “I believe we have been working extra hard to grow from last season into a more close-knit team that is stronger, offensively and defensively.” We wish the Madison Dodgers the best of luck with the rest of their season!
