On December 5th, 2025 the World Cup Draw Decisions were released by FIFA to fans worldwide, via livestream. Following the dramatic finish of the last world cup, fans have had plenty of time to build their excitement.
The drawings follow a group system with four countries in each group, and are assigned a letter A through L. However, there are still a few teams that are actively playing to secure their spot. These teams are all in their own four-team bracket system, and the winner of the four will make it to the World Cup. The teams that are not yet confirmed are the winners of Czechia, Denmark, North Macedonia, and Republic of Ireland in Group A. Bosnia and Herzegovina, Italy, Northern Ireland, and Wales for Group B. Group D is the winner of Kosovo, Romania, Slovakia, and Türkiye. Finally, Group F is the winner of Albania, Poland, Sweden, and Ukraine.
Although it has been announced that North America will be hosting this year’s World Cup, it’s unlike anything fans have seen before. This World Cup features matches in the following cities: Toronto and Vancouver in Canada, Guadalajara, Mexico City, and Monterrey in Mexico, and Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Miami, New York/New Jersey, Philadelphia, Seattle, and San Francisco in the United States.
Historically, the World Cup has been a single country event, and provides very good opportunities for the host country which can include job opportunities, tourism, and more economic opportunities. However, the 2026 World Cup will be held between 3 co-host countries being Canada, USA, and Mexico.
On the other hand, one of the negatives for this World Cup is the political debate between countries that are playing each other. A prominent example of this is the Egypt vs Iran game, as well as the France and Senegal game. It will be interesting to see what happens in these games, and who the winners will be.
No matter the outcome, the World Cup is a great event for everybody, regardless of their level of soccer knowledge. Fans have been patiently waiting to cheer on their team, and everybody is very excited for this special World Cup.
