Madison High School’s softball team is gearing up for an exciting new season with fresh faces and big opportunities. After finishing last year with a solid 14-11 record, the Dodgers have been a consistent team, but the loss of three key seniors – Beau Braverman, Emily Csatlos, and Ava Strauss – means some new leaders will need to step up.
Head Coach Jessica Rosella is ready to take on the challenge. “While it’s always tough to lose key players, there’s a chance to build a new identity for this team,” she said. “We are focusing on development, teamwork, and seeing how the new players adapt. There’s also the potential for surprises and players who weren’t necessarily in the spotlight last season to emerge as key contributors. Georgia Mock, Meghan Harter, Emma Gundlach, and freshman Aubrey Porciello are players who have a lot of potential to make their mark this season.”
Despite a tough 14-3 loss to Morris Catholic in their season opener, the team is focused on growth. Coach Rosella is optimistic about the future and believes in her players’ abilities to come together. “I am confident that this group is going to grow together and have a fun year building towards our future,” she said.
The focus this year isn’t just on winning games but on building a solid foundation. “Every season and team is different,” Coach Rosella explained. “I am so excited to work with this group of young ladies. All of them are team players and are there for each other. This year, it might not be about replicating the same success immediately, but rather about laying a strong foundation and giving our very best every day we step out to compete. I’m hoping that with this young program, mixed in with some returning varsity talent, we can improve every day and hopefully create a competitive and resilient team.”
With players like Anna Bochner and Cammi Takafuji, who have been strong varsity starters for the past two years, the Dodgers are in good hands. Coach Rosella is looking for them to take on even bigger roles this year. “It’s a young team, but there’s a lot of potential,” she said. “I’m confident that by the end of the season, we’ll be in a position to compete at a high level.”
The team’s roster may look different this season, but the goal remains the same: to grow together, support each other, and work hard every day. With a mix of new talent and experienced players, Madison’s softball team is ready to make the 2025 season one to remember. The Dodgers are embracing the challenges ahead and are excited to see where the season will take them.
