MHS RUGBY CLUB

The MHS Rugby Club is a new club, started this year by seniors Connor Gilfillan and Jon DeSimone – who will be playing rugby in college. This club is a good time, whether you know how to play rugby or not. There are practices three times a week at Ted Monica field, Monday and Wednesday from 7:00 – 8:30 pm and Saturday 11:00 – 12:30 am. Although there have been no scrimmages yet, there are hopes of organizing them during the summer. The practices, while led by 2 experienced players, are oriented towards the fundamentals of playing rugby – making the club very open to those who have never played. Gilfillan describes the club as his “passion project” through which he hopes to spread his “love for the sport to more people” while simultaneously “getting them to stay active and meet new people.” New faces are welcomed and encouraged at practices. To join, speak to Connor Gilfillan via instagram by messaging the account @mhs_rugby_club, reach out in person, email him, or just show up to practice where you’ll be welcomed with open arms. All in all, the new MHS Rugby Club is definitely worth checking out.
