The atmosphere was electric in Madison last Friday night as the Dodgers put down the Verona Hillbillies in a statement win on their Senior Night. This extends the Dodgers win streak to three games and Madison is now in the playoff picture for the North Two Group Two conference.

Senior night is a time when both the seniors front the football team and the Marching Dodgers are honored for their hard work and dedication throughout their time at Madson High School. At halftime, each senior and their families were brought out to the fifty-yard line one by one to have their names announced and pictures taken.

Senior defensive end Ian Reilly said, “I loved seeing all of our friends at the game, there were so many people and it made the night even more special.” The large crowd definitely played a factor in giving Madison a great home-field advantage, as well as giving the seniors the recognition they deserve. Senior Marching Dodger, Niamh Kane, told me, “Overall I think it was a very fun night and the show we did went very well”. The Marching Dodgers are a very important part of creating a great atmosphere during the game and never fail to get the crowd going.

Captain Luke Denison had this to say, “It was a great experience… the guys deserve recognition for all their hard work over the years and I think they got that on Friday night.” Jayson Candelario had the best performance of the night with 4 touchdowns and 155 yards on 24 rushing attempts. When asked who his favorite player was after the game Jayson said, “It’s me, I’m my favorite player… I’m the best out there”. Hopefully, this confidence can carry into next week when the Dodgers face off against rival Hanover Park at 1 pm, 10/23, on Ted Monica Field.
