20 Things I Learned From MDO
I have been a member of the Madison Dodger Online staff for the past three years. As my high school career comes to a close, I wanted to reflect on the time I spent in journalism. Here are some of the things I learned along the way.
- How to work as a team
- How to proofread yours and other people’s work
- KB loves pugs
- How to convey serious topics with tact
- How to stay impartial while covering important issues
- The importance of having a good title
- Even after three years, I am terrible at writing captions
- Although the Mac computers in the journalism room look nice, they barely function
- No printer will ever function correctly in the journalism room
- KB loves receiving pictures of pugs
- If you talk about your articles to friends people will read them
- How to properly conduct an interview
- How to be respectfully nosy
- What ‘secret snowflake’ is
- How it feels to be part of a publication
- How to write a staff bio for yourself
- KB will be the best teacher you ever have
- How to make a google map
- The people who do journalism are really great
- High school really isn’t so bad after all
I want to thank Ms. Bergen and the whole staff of MDO for giving me such a positive outlet for the last three years. I wish the best of luck to all the future staff of MDO. I have learned so much and completely enjoyed every part of it. I will never forget to cherish my time spent in A2.
