With the close of spirit week comes the pep rally and the football game under the lights. This year’s pep rally went over team highlights, allowed students to participate in activities, and increased moral overall. Pep rallies are run by the Student Council, with President Owen Matthews and Vice President Matt Haughey.

After asking a few questions to some students, it was felt that the pep rally felt too short, even though two students felt it was even too long. The majority of the group surveyed felt that the tug of war was the best activity. One senior, however, was very disgruntled about choosing the tug of war since the senior class went 0-3 this year. For the final tug of war, the junior class faced off against the infamous teacher team. The junior class was swept by the teacher’s unrivaled strength.

Among those surveyed, it seemed that the donut eating competition was the least favorite activity. One student even explained, “[My least favorite was] Donuts because I didn’t get one”. Majority explained that the donut eating competition was the least favorite because it felt rushed and that it didn’t allow for a large part of the student body to participate.

Another point that was consist with a lot of the comments was that those surveyed did not like the announcement style to explain how well the fall sports teams did, instead preferring the captains getting up and speaking about each sport individually.

Overall, the pep rally was enjoyed by many and was a great success. Thank you to the Student Council and all of the students and teachers that participated. It’s a great day to be a dodger!
