Warmer weather brings spring sports.

As warm weather begins to break spring sports teams will get a chance to secure their legacy alongside fall and winter teams for the calendar year of 2016. Spring sports teams will have a lot to live up to rounding out the  year that has already seen two state champs and a hockey team make it all the way to the finals. Three of the six spring sports teams hope to use the energy of their brand new coaches to carry them to victory.

Girls Lacrosse: The girls boast three captains who are all committed to play sports in college; Catherine Crowley (Loyola), Lauren Taylor (Trinity), and Emilie Flamme (Amherst) hope to use the expertise of rookie coach at MHS Toni-Anne Cauallo to have a successful season.

Softball: Captains Grace Nittolo, Taylor Camp, and Alyssa Debiasse are excited about new Coach Jess Rosella and hope that she can bring a new game plan up from the freshman level. Rosella is a gym teacher at MJS and hopes to use the skill of junior Caitlyn Massaro and recent commit to D3 powerhouse William Paterson University.

Track/Field: Boys Track is lead by MHS legend; Coach Carroll. Carroll hopes to use the speed of seniors Justin Russo, Noah Edwards and Will Hendrikson. The girls team is coached by Doc. L and led by Sydney Strelic, Emma Ticknor, and Owen Matthews.

Baseball: The boys baseball team has a host of returning starters coupled with new Coach Frank Dasti. Dasti has already made significant changes regarding the team and hopes to create change that will bring immediate and long term success to Dodger baseball. Immediate success is already seen in a 7-1 scrimmage victory of livingston.

Boys Lacrosse: Second year Coach Andrew “Ace” Apel plans on using the star power of four college lacrosse players; Jack Thompson (Rutgers), Joey Goret (Muhlenberg), Mike Alturi (SUNY-Cortland), and Nick DIlauri (Kean) along with the return of the entire defense. The boys have their eyes on a state ring.

Golf: Long time Madison teachers Mr. Millichap, and Mr. Fisher hope to have senior leadership from Jeb Burnet and Juyni Sim along with underclassmen Lucas Artiglere and Alex Shraft. The girls boast their first year as a separate team and plan on success lead by captains Megan Brennan and Megan Dyer.
