The struggles of being Mrs. Bergen as a member of Kiss on Halloween

Halloween is right around the corner and i could not be more excited. As a proud owner of a countdown to Halloween app, my costume has been ready since September. However, for those of you who still haven’t decided what exactly you want to be yet, there is no need to fret, Party City is only a short drive away. Here are my do’s and don’ts when it comes to Halloween.

Do: Dress to please yourself.

Halloween is the one day out of the year where it is socially acceptable to relive your childhood and dress up to be exactly who you want. Take advantage of this. Dress up and who or what you want to be, instead of what you may think others will like. Own your costume and you will be respected for it.

Don’t: Be afraid to be basic.

There is no reason to be embarrassed of what you want to be. Yes there are about 100 cats, dogs, or angels on Halloween, but that doesn’t mean that there can’t be 101 cats, dogs, or angels on Halloween.

Do: Have shameless fun.

Basically anything goes on Halloween. You can be a child and go trick or treating when its still (somewhat) socially acceptable. If you want to, go trick or treating, because one day you’re going to be too old to show up at a stranger’s door and demand candy.

Don’t: Let your parents help decide your Halloween costume.

I’m not kidding, don’t. At this age, your parents are just worried that you’re going to look inappropriate and they will play a huge part in the deciding of your costume if you let it. Be who or what you want.

All in all, Halloween is one of the most in enjoyable holidays. There are no nosy extended family members around to question your life decisions, you don’t have to drive over the river and through the woods in the snow, and you certainly don’t have to pretend you like the pair of socks your Aunt Betty got you.
