The second annual Chandler Cup soccer tournament will be held Friday, June 14th at 4PM at the Madison Recreation Complex. For $30, you can make a team of six and compete to take home the glory, although last years winner, Team Sweden, led by senior Erik Anderson, is hoping to take back the title. All proceeds go towards the Chandler Memorial Scholarship. Last year, the tournament raised $2,590 for the scholarship.
This is the second year that the Chandler Cup will take place. The tournament was first created at this time last year to commemorate the beloved and renowned coach and gym teacher. For those who knew Coach Chandler, the soccer tournament is the perfect opportunity to get together and remember Chandler’s wild and funny antics. Even for the underclassmen who didn’t have the opportunity to get to know Coach Chandler, the tournament is a fun way to get out and support a good cause. Lynott was correct in saying that “irrespective of whether you’re a big soccer fan or not, this event is about remembering Chandler and showing that his spirit still lives on in the school.”
All money and team information can be given to Lynott in the athletic office ASAP.
