Coming off an impressive 15-6 season, the field hockey team has surpassed high expectations for this year, currently 15-0. Led by Head Coach Sarah Morano, the team is ranked first in the NJAC Conference and eighth overall in New Jersey.
With strong offensive and defensive sides, the girls’ field hockey team has defeated some tough opponents in the NJAC Conference. All point leaders, the underclassmen of the team have been crucial in the offensive success. Sophomore forward Lindsay Catchpole has made major contributions in all 15 wins with 22 goals and 5 assists so far. Forwards Celia Stuart (Sophomore) and Grace Garrity (Freshman) have been key assets with Stuart attaining 13 goals and 14 assists and Garrity with 10 goals and 7 assists. On the defensive side, Freshman Caitlin Nallin, as well as Seniors Emma Wirth and Anna Stuart have been essential components in the team’s success, as well as Senior Goalie Caitlyn Piotrowski.
Throughout their winning season, Madison Field Hockey has seen a variety of competitors. From 7-1 victories at Mountain Lakes and Parsippany to close call 1-0 wins over Boonton and Montclair Kimberly, they have won it all. Currently in the Morris County Tournament, Madison beat St. Elizabeth’s by 5 goals in the Second Round, and Randolph in the Quarterfinals on Wednesday. The girl’s field hockey team will now advance to the Semifinals against Mount Olive this weekend, hoping to defend their undefeated title.
