The third annual Powder Puff Football Game is set to take place Wednesday, November 20th. The senior and junior girls will face off in a flag football game, in which they will be coached by juniors, George Cripe, Hudson Flemming, Carter Ferris, AJ Eldridge, and Luke McGuire and seniors, Jonathan Erickson, Brody Dineen, Lex Peterson, and Chris Carfano, all members of the 2024 Madison Varsity Football team. This game has sparked excitement across the halls of Madison.
This year the stakes feel higher than ever, but it’s not just about bragging rights. Each team is bringing something unique to the field. The juniors are confident that they will make history, as the juniors have never been victorious. Their coaches have been fueling a fierce determination constantly saying, “ it’s us against the refs” and hyping up the possibility of being the first ever junior class to take victory over the seniors. Their practices have been intense and drills include pushing tires, moving sleds, and training hard to prove they have what it takes.
On the other side, the seniors are brimming with confidence, knowing they have 8 athletes already committed to play a sport at the collegiate level. They know the importance of the Powder Puff tradition and they are ready to defend their title as the senior class.
This year it feels like it is going to be more than just a game. Many of the seniors and juniors have noted that it feels special because of the close bond these classes have. Seniors have shared how this closeness makes them even more determined to secure the win, but also to celebrate their friendship and the respect both teams have for each other. With the game just one week away, the excitement is very high. Will the juniors make history? Or will the seniors prove their confidence correct? One thing’s for sure, this year’s Powder Puff game will be one to remember. Both classes will come away with long lasting memories. Check out the game November 20, 2024, at 6:00pm on MRC 1.
