The 2024 College football season has started off with a thrilling start, delivering exciting performances, unexpected upsets and new rising stars that have captured the attention of many.
Top 5
No. 1 Texas Longhorns.
The Longhorns are 6-0, yet have many different injuries on their roster, specifically the loss of their starting running back and their starting quarterback. With the showing of 6-0, they have only a couple games ahead that are threats to their undefeated record.
No. 2 Oregon Ducks.
Coming off a big win in week 6, Oregon dominated second-ranked Ohio State in their 32-31 victory. With this win, they have entered the spot of number 2 overall, causing Ohio State to drop to number 3.

No. 3 Ohio State Buckeyes
With Ohio off to a 5-1 start only losing to number 2 Oregon, they look to keep their success going. With their star player, receiver Jeremiah Smith, they are looking to use him to make it
far in the season.
No. 4 Miami Hurricanes.
Miami coming off two close games had a well needed bye with their 6-0 record. With a road trip to Louisville in Week 8, they plan on keeping the streak going.

No. 5 Penn State Nittany Lions.
Penn State with a 6-0 record is one of only three teams in the big ten still undefeated. With a big comeback from a 20-6 halftime deficit to USC and pulling off an overtime win, they look to keep their success rolling into the coming weeks.
Upsets in the Early Weeks
Unranked Vanderbilt beat number 2 ranked Alabama with one of the biggest upsets in college football history. Also, an unranked Arkansas beat number 4 ranked Tennessee. With these upsets, there have been many changes to the top 25 in college football.
Rising Stars
Ryan Williams, a true freshman, has emerged as one of the most explosive players on one of the best teams in college football, Alabama. The Crimson Tide has a record of 5-1, and are in the top 25. Williams had an electric game against Georgia on September 28, with 6 receptions for 177 yards, and a game winning touchdown. This win was his best game so far this season.
Travis Hunter, a two way player in college football, is the only one that is top ten in his position for both wide receiver and cornerback. He plays for Colorado Buffaloes, who are 5-1, with some commanding victories over UCF and CO State. He is also one of the front runners in the Heisman race after week 6.
Jeremiah Smith, a true freshman wide receiver for the Ohio State Buckeyes, has led his team to an amazing 5-0 start. He has had some spectacular plays and games, one of those being when they played Western Michigan. He had 5 receptions with 119 yards, and 1 touchdown. The Buckeyes went on to win that game 56-0.
Ashton Jeanty, a junior running back, is having a historical season so far. He has 126 rushing attempts and 1,248 yards with an average of 9.9 yards per attempt. He also has an impressive 17 touchdowns and is only in week 6. He is one of the front runners for the Heisman trophy, and has led the Boise State Broncos to the top 25.
