Recap: Senior Talent Show 2015
The anticipation of the 2015 Talent Show was immense. Between all the acts preparing, the emcee’s making time with their busy schedules to film videos, and even the senior girls carrying out the tradition of making t-shirts, this talent show was a success.
The Talent Show opened up with MHS’s baevorite, Alex Bollington, who got people up, moving, and excited for what was about to come. After Alex’s wonderful introduction came the introduction video for this year’s senior emcee’s, Julia Malone, Jess Schuszler, Bobby Finelli and Harrison Meyer. Bobby’s video included many inside jokes that have happened throughout this year. Jess and Julia made a hilarious music video of them rapping and Harrison emerged from the shower with, of course, the whole hockey team.
Although it looked like all fun and games, these four seniors worked very hard to make this show happen. Julia Malone said, “The idea of being an emcee originally intimidated me but as all four of us got more comfortable with each other and began working and thinking of ideas, it was a lot of fun. I’m glad all of us worked hard and were able to do this.”
Following the introduction videos came Simran who did an Indian dance for a good 5 minutes or more. Talk about exhausting! Unfortunately, Simran will be leaving us June 1st because she was just here for the year as an exchange student from India. As the night went on, there was an A Capella group, Courtney Formica and Abbey Schreier dancing, Morgan Sanchez and Andy Jung singing a duet, The Jeff Holm Band, a juggling act, a silent skit, and tap dancing. The last act was senior Abby Riley who blew everyone away with her beautiful singing and ended up winning the talent show. Congrats Abby!
This year consisted of several unique acts that everyone appreciated. Between all of these acts there were four videos everyone found amusing. The first was the spelling bee where the emcee’s walked around the hallways of MHS asking students to spell semi-complicated words. Most of them failed and the English Department was left dazed and confused. The next video was the interview video, which again, consisted of several jokes that has happened so far this year. Then there was a video of some students at MHS who had look-alikes. And lastly, there was the ESPN video where the emcee’s listed the Top 5 and Bottom 5 moments of the year.
The talent show is dedicated to the class graduating every single year, so this year it was the Class of 2015. To conclude the show, there was a slideshow of the Senior Class from their early ages to senior year. I’m sure all of us seniors can relate when Emma Stechschulte said, “It feels like yesterday that I was at my first senior talent show as a freshman and thought our day would never come. But being front row finally and having this show dedicated to us felt pretty surreal. With our first big senior event done, it’s finally starting to feel like the end of high school now.”
The talent show was, as always, an event everyone loves to go to and it was a great success thanks to everyone who helped. Congratulations and great job to everyone who participated and the wonderful emcees! Also thank you to everyone who made it happen and run smoothly as always like Coach Lynott, Ms. B and Robert Keller. And lastly, congratulations and good luck to the Class of 2015. We’re almost there.
