All You Need to Know About Boys Tennis 2023

Last year the Boys Tennis Team were able to win a majority of their matches. This could not have been achieved without the hard work of seniors of the team. With those seniors now departed, how is the new team going to fair?

The Team’s coach, Anton Carrera, commented saying, “We had a lot of players graduate last year so we are hoping that this young and talented group can step up to compete.” Indeed, six seniors graduated last year, which is half of the varsity team. When the team itself was asked, they said they would have to work on rebuilding their team bond. Charles Cripe specifically noted, “to prepare, I think we just need to practice more and get our chemistry going between our doubles teams.”

The Tennis Team’s first game was on April 3rd, with a 5-0 win. In this match, Madison almost flawlessly dominated the opposing Boonton. A stand out senior was Saatvik Sharma. Some underclassmen who also showed an impressive display included: Broderick (Brody) Dineen (Sophomore) and Christopher Lee (Freshmen). Their performances served as an answer to the question of how the Boys Tennis Team will rebuild.

In a press conference held on April 6th, upperclassmen on the team were interviewed. Many of the seniors and other upperclassmen talked about how they’re working to improve and want to have an unforgettable last season. When asked who could carry the torch after they leave they said Varsity players Christiphor Lee, Dashiell James, Brody Dineen, and current number one singles player, Lukas Kolega. Ryan Poole stated: “I think that they are very strong players and they have a bright future ahead of them.”
