Christopher Wu is one of Madison High School’s most prominent cross country runners. On Monday (9/15) I had the opportunity to sit down with him and some of his teammates for media day.
Wu is getting ready for the new season of cross country, he looks ready and excited for the season to start, as throughout the interview he expressed his love for running and cross country, even saying that he, “[gets] a lot of enjoyment out of doing it [(running)] everyday.”
How is Chris getting ready for the season? Well his teammate, Bella Bolstad gave some insight on what a typical practice has looked like for them. She said that a practice will have 45-50 minutes of running, the team also does on and offs, as well as different paces, such as 2-mile pace.
From a team standpoint, the main goal is injury prevention and trying to maintain as many healthy runners as possible to make sure the team has a strong season. For Christopher, his personal goal is to start, “bringing down that 5k time”, which he has been making progress on. In his freshman year his time was just below 20 minutes, sophomore year, just below 19 minutes, and now as a junior Chris says that he is aiming for “sub eighteen”, this year.
It’s looking like another promising season for Christopher Wu, and all of his cross country teammates! Follow the team and all other school sports all season long, on Dodger Media.
