On Saturday, September 27, the Madison Girls Field Hockey team had an impressive performance against Morristown Beard. The final score was 7-0, giving Madison their seventh win for the year.
Junior Celia Stuart set the tone early for the team by scoring their first goal just 6 minutes into the game. Soon after that, Sophomore Grace Garrity scored two goals making it 3-0 for Madison.
With the help from Madison’s powerhouse defense: Caitlin Nallin, Morgan Balassi, and Lina Rae, Morristown Beard finished the game with just four shots on goal.
The final four goals came from Lindsay Catchpole, Lily Fee, Harper Masterson, and Bella Blunda.
Madison ended the game with six different goal scorers, proving their team to have a large variety of weapons, confirming Coach Sarah Morano’s claim that“the depth of our roster allows us to rely on everyone on the field, not just certain players. I think that is the key thing that will help us go far in the county and state tournaments.”
Madison hopes to have the same success in the county and state tournaments in the 2025 season as they did in the 2024 season. Playing Morristown Beard was more competition for Madison to practice for the more intense and important games later in the season.
The Madison Field Hockey team will take on Parsippany at Madison Recreational Center on Wednesday, October 1 to celebrate Senior Night.
