Madison- Senior Sophia Christoffers is bringing her talents to Division 1 school Binghamton University next year. This season already having 78 kills, 72 digs leading the team with both she takes on the role as one of the captains for the 2025-2026 season. Once she made volleyball one of her main priorities she was able to turn her volleyball career into a dream she always had wanted.
“Once I took a break from basketball I knew that I still wanted to stay active and play a sport, so my sister got me to play volleyball and as soon as I started playing I fell in love with the sport. I always knew I wanted to play a sport in college and once I discovered my love for volleyball it was not hard to start putting in extra work to get me to where I wanted to be.” Christoffers said.
With taking a break from basketball Sophia was able to put in her work and dedicate herself and her time to fully get to the spot she wanted and that she earned, which was Binghampton. With taking a risk and quitting basketball to focus on volleyball Sophia realized that this was something that she knew she wanted. As she says it was not hard to put in extra work Christoffers shows not only how much she knew she wanted to play in college but also how much she loved the sport.
“What stood out to me about Binghamton was definitely the team culture. You can tell how deeply the coaches care for the players and how that reflects into their relationship.”
There were many factors that brought Sophia’s attention to Binghampton from other schools and was able to figure out what she wanted for her volleyball and academic career. Wanting a close community and the team culture that Sophia saw drew her into finding a spot on the team.
