Madison High School Girls Volleyball is gearing up for a successful season. As of today, September 15, the team has won all 4 of their games.
The team has several key players, including senior Sophia Christoffers, who recently committed to play at Binghamton University. As an Outside, Sophia fuels the team’s offense and has a very high kill number. In a recent game against Vernon, Sophia recorded 18 kills, 17 digs, and two aces. Senior Eva Errichetti is also looking like a key contributor; In the team’s homeopener, she reached 1000 career assists. She is the team setter and looks to help her teammates get kills. Eden O’Connor, the team’s other Outside, and Charlotte Forrester, a Middle, both contribute greatly to the team’s success.
Last year, the team won the state sectionals against Hoboken and advanced all the way to the state semifinals against Raritan, where they fought hard but ultimately came up just short. According to Sophia Christoffers, this loss only fuels them to learn from their mistakes and take the win this season.
This year, the volleyball team will face two rivals—Summit, and Jefferson. Madison played Summit in a scrimmage during preseason, and lost. In a recent interview with Dodger Media Online, Eva Erichetti expresses that during the scrimmage they “learned a lot and [they] will be ready to take them on during the regular season.” Additionally, last year, the Dodgers were not able to get the win versus Jefferson. Jefferson is a quality team and has won 5 games this season so far. However, Madison has indicated their improvement since last season, and their determination to win this time around.
