The 2025 season for the Madison High School Girls tennis team has been off to a rocky start. They won their very first match on August 27th against Parsippanny Hills High School and then dropped their second on September 2nd against Randolph Township. With 11 matches completed this season and an unfortunate stretch of 9 losses, and securing one more win against Bernards on September 12th, they now sit at a record of 2-9.
9/15 Match Against Chatham
The Madison Girls Tennis team faced off against Chatham Highschool on the 15th of September, and after a rigorous match came a devastating loss. Facing off with three singles teams and two doubles the Varsity Girls Tennis team was beaten. Captain Caroline Bibbee, a senior playing first singles, against Kayra Agar from Chatham and was unable to secure the win. Katherine Scarpa, a junior playing second doubles, and Alexis Maroukian, a senior playing third doubles, followed in the underwhelming streak of losses. Overall an unfortunate game for the Dodgers.
Future Outlook
After losing some key players from last year, the new seniors, including Caroline Bibbee, Mackenzie Dickson, Lexi Maroukian, Eva Mazurek and Caroline Benjamin have stepped up to fill the roles and responsibilities of leading the team. Lexi Maroukian says, “Our team has really been trying to put in the work and putting in the most effort into our games” The new captain is encouraging building bonds, hard work, and creating a strong community within the team. Including team building activities and events like their team trip to watch the US Open.
When reflecting on their season thus far, Captain Lexi Maroukian remarks that, “ if we lose we don’t come out of it being upset we come out with a positive mindset and we go into our next game with a positive energy”, hoping that this positive attitude will contribute to a turnaround with the team record.
