The soccer Dodgers are off to a hot 4-0-1 start to the 2025 season, beating a 5th ranked Westfield and tying to a 7th ranked Scotch Plains. Obviously two very good results for a team trying to battle for a Group 2 state championship. One of the key pieces for this incredible run is goalkeeper, Callum Gabriel Regan, returning 3rd team all-state keeper.
The appointed captain is already on pace to have an even better season than last year, totaling 35 saves in just four games. Averaging 8.75 saves per game, and only allowing 2 goals in that stretch, tied for the least amount allowed in the NJAC Liberty Division.
When interviewed on media day, Callum Regan talks about the pressure of returning as an All-State keeper last season. He says, “There’s not a ton of pressure being that kind of person… I think it’ll be great to see what happens this year,” showing that he’s confident he’ll rise to the occasion when needed. He also talks about his training and how it differs from the rest of the team, and says he does “certain drills for goalkeepers” with his goalkeeping coach but he’s “still with the team for most of the time”.
During the media day, the soccer captains all had the same goal in mind- to get that all deserving state title. Suffering a heartbreaking loss in the semifinal the year prior to Harrison High School, they all definitely have a bad taste in their mouth. The team has been working hard all summer to prepare for this season and their one goal. And it looks like the hard work paid off. Can the Dodgers stay this hot throughout the season? Can they keep this momentum going all the way to and through the postseason? And can they get that title that the team is thirsting over? It seems so with Callum Regan back in the net.
