The Dodger Bowling Team hopes to continue to improve their record after finishing 6-13; a five game win improvement from the 2022-23 season when they finished 1-12. Senior Captains, Brennan Cullis, Sam Bedoya and Jordan Mcmillan, think that it is definitely possible to accomplish that goal.
The team lost two key players for this season with Jack Irwin, and Jack Mcguirre both graduating and heading off to college. Their replacements for this year are seniors, Toon Janssen and Kellen Cheu, both with experience when it comes to the sport. Brennan hopes that they can fill the role that both Jacks had last year as quickly as possible.
With a year under their belt, the three captains feel more confident and prepared going into this season. With the team practicing out of season to continue to improve skills and team chemistry, the buzz around the bowling team has never been greater.
Brennan Cullis states that that his goal for the upcoming session is to “get the underclassmen acclimated to the bowling season and get them to average a score of 200.” Looking forward to the season, Brennan thinks that their most challenging matchups will be against Delbarton, Montville and Kinnelon, but “there are definitely winnable matchups on the schedule.”
The Bowling team had its best year in several seasons last winter, falling to Dumont 2-0 in the Quarterfinals of States. The year was a big improvement for everyone overall on the team. Team captain Brennan Cullis says that the goal for this year is to get to “the 3rd round of states” and continue on improving from last year.
