This season our Madison Girls Volleyball team brought the heat, proving that hard work and teamwork can bring you all the way to the top. The Dodgers, our very own powerhouse, made us proud by winning the NJSIAA Central Jersey Group 1 Volleyball Tournament. In a nail biting match against top seeded Hoboken, they pulled a comeback, with sets of 25-23 and 26-24.
It was a team effort with everyone stepping up when it mattered the most. Sophia Christoffers (Junior) was an unstoppable force racking up 14 kills and 14 digs. Eden O’connor ( Junior) hustled her way to three kills and 17 digs, while Devon Johnson ( Senior) chipped in with two kills and 11 digs. These girls dominated.
“This season wasn’t just about big wins, it was about making memories, playing our hearts out and growing stronger together” says Christoffers. From an early season sweep against Hackettstown to a thrilling match against Whippany Park, where the Dodgers went on a 10- 3 scoring run, the Dodgers showed they had what it takes to play under pressure and stay cool when it counts.
But, the recognition doesn’t stop there. Not only did the Madison Dodgers finish with an impressive 17 – 13 record, but they also took home the Northwest Jersey Athletic Conference Freedom Division Sportsmanship Award. To top it off, Sophia Christoffers and Devon Johnson earned First Team All Conference honors.
The girls season came to an end in the Group 1 final against Raritan. Despite a hard fought effort, the Dodgers could not hold off the number two seed, falling in three sets. While the final result was not in our favor, this team’s journey has been remarkable and this season will be remembered for years to come.
This season was all about grit, grind, and Dodger pride. Congrats to our team for a season to remember. You made all of Madison proud!
