All of the Madison Dodgers are having a victorious fall season. With an overall record of 58 wins and only 27 losses across the football, soccer, field hockey, cross country, volleyball, and tennis teams, it is no secret that the Dodgers are dominating.
The football team was initially off to a tough start. They lost their three opening games, and fans questioned whether or not they would be able to bounce back. However, a dominating 41-7 win against Lenape for their fourth game of the season revealed their potential. The team then went on to play their fifth game of the season against Mountain Lakes, which resulted in another dominating 49-13 win. Then, the Dodgers destroyed Parsippany Hills in a 62-6 win. The team looks to feed into this momentum and continue their three-game winning streak, proving themselves as they go.
The girls and boys soccer teams are off to a great start. The girls team is 10-1, scoring 46 goals, and allowing only 6. Their one loss was against Mountain Lakes, falling a goal short in a 2-1 battle. The team has their eyes set on making it to the county finals, where they could possibly see Mountain Lakes again and redeem themselves. The boys team is still undefeated, with an 12-0 record. They have scored a total of 48 goals across their 12 games and allowed only 9. They look to continue their winning streak, and have high hopes for both the Morris County and State Tournament.
The girl’s field hockey team is having a season for the record books. They are not only undefeated, but they have been dominating almost every one of their opponents. The team has scored a whopping 61 goals over their past 12 games, and allowed only 4. This means that 8 of their 11 games have been shutouts, and in the other 4 games that weren’t shutouts, teams were only able to score one goal against them. The Dodgers are looking to continue to dominate, they also have high hopes for both the Morris County and State Tournament.
The men’s cross country team is Madison’s third undefeated Madison sports team this fall season. They are 5-0 in dual meets and have been putting up strong numbers all season long. The girl’s is additionally going strong with a 4-2 record, putting up strong numbers as well.
The girls volleyball team is 11-7 so far this season. A heartbreaking 2-0 loss against West Morris on September 30th in the First Round of the Morris County Tournament is now serving as motivation for the team. They are learning from their mistakes and looking forward to redeeming themselves as their season continues.
The girls tennis team has had a roller coaster of a season. Although only posting a 8-12 record, they made an incredibly deep run in the state tournament, eventually falling 3-2 to Glen Ridge on October 10th, in the Semifinal Round of the North Jersey, Section 2, Group 1 State Tournament. The Dodgers look to finish their season on a high note with their final 4 matches against Oak Knoll, Villa Walsh, Governor of Livingston, and Morristown-Beard.
