On September 6 the Dodgers traveled to Mountain Lakes hoping to defeat the Lakers. While everyone was driven to have a quick match, that was not the final outcome. Senior captain Kaden Peterson, sophomore Korryn Peterson, and Alexis (Lexi) Maroukian and sophomore Kate Scarpa all went into tiebreakers for the third set of the match.
Mountain Lakes won the September 6th match 4-1, Madison obtaining only one match win from sophomore Korryn Peterson playing against Chloe Lin. “ It was intense out there, having my teammates cheering me on really helped me but put pressure on me at the same time. I knew I had to stay focused and play my game” says sophomore Korryn Peterson. This match lasted about 3 hours and with Korryn’s skill and determination she was able to secure the point for the dodgers.
Senior Kaden Peterson also had a very long match against Mira Sun, as they both entered the court striving to secure the win. From the start, it was clear that the players were on a similar playing level. Both Kaden and Mira exchanged powerful shots, their rallies were long, and both players were very focused. The tenison rose as the match progressed, both players occasionally disputing calls and calling for a line judge multiple times.
This tie breaker highlighted the skill of both players and how they battled through every point. The Dodgers went home to prepare to face the Lakers once again on 9/10 and redeem themselves. Both the Petersons, Bibbee, Mackenzie and Sadie beat their opponents that night. “ It felt great bouncing back and seeing the team come together and support each other after this match. I believe we are closer and ready to face the next few matches we have left” said Junior Mackenzie Dickson.
The Madison Girls Tennis team has 15 matches left not including counties. Their competitive attitude has allowed them to be match ready to defeat their competition and they hope to make it far in counties.
