As the season starts to roll senior leader Leo London is ready to go for this year’s cross country season. Leo has been preparing for this season since the beginning of summer as the training started June 17th. High expectations are in order for the runner as they won the conference title last year and are looking to defend it.
Leo who has been successful throughout his career at madison. His current most successful 5k time is 16:11.13. Leo runs cross country during the fall and also runs long distance on the Madison track and field during the winter and spring.
I asked some of Leo’s teammates what they felt about Leo as a leader, Teammate and senior Max Bauman responded with, “Leo’s leadership qualities get the team ready for each meet and mentally prepare us for whatever is coming up.” and Martin Bria said, “I would say Leo London is the group leader.” This shines a light on how his teammates see him as a leader. Leo is known to lead the team out before meets and gives some advice before the race.
The season currently has a high outlook ahead and Leo and Clotide are seen as captains by their teammates and all the other seniors are known to be leaders. They have high expectations for themselves and are looking to defend their last year’s conference title and looking to fight for a sectional title. Everyone on the team has been putting in work. The team took a running trip to Vermont which Leo was a part of to bond during the summer. The team has 3 dual meets before the Invitational on October 5th, where Leo is looking to perform before we get into the postseason for cross country.
