The high school football season has begun, and the Dodgers are poised for a bounce-back year. Last season, the Dodgers had a rough season and ended with a record of 3-6. However, this year they look to have a better season and win more games.
On September 7, the season started against rivals Hanover Park at Ted Monica Field in Madison. Through 3 quarters, the Dodgers were trailing 14-7. The Hanover Park Hornets ended up scoring another touchdown and beating the Madison Dodgers by a final score of 20-7.
It was a tough loss, they made sure to continue working hard. The boys played Mendham in a Friday night lights game away in Mendham on September 13. The game started close with Madison trailing 14-13 after the first quarter. However, Mendham was able to pull away and win by a final score of 42-13.
The Dodgers have had a rough start, however, they are determined to change it. Their next game is against a tough Cedar Grove team on September 21.
Out of their 6 remaining games, only 2 teams are above a 500 winning percentage. The teams are Cedar Grove and Pequonnock. The 4 teams below 500 are Lenape Valley, Mountain Lakes, Parsippany, and Morris Catholic.
Senior captain, Lex Peterson told me he and the rest of the team, ¨have a high outlook for the rest of the season¨.
While the Dodgers have fallen in their first 2 games. The upcoming future should be bright. They have a strong shot of making the playoffs and being over a 500 winning percentage.
