The Marching band aims to repeat their success from the last two years in the upcoming season. There are many exciting changes for the Marching Dodgers this season including a costume upgrade as well as exciting performances that many can look forward to.
The marching band brings back many notable faces including four seniors: Helen Kilman, Mia Stack, Aubrey Chase, and Colin Johansen. Helen, along with Mia, are the Drum Majors for the marching band while Aubrey is the Color Guard captain and Colin is the Drumline Captain. The Marching Dodgers continue to grow in size as not only have they brought back a lot of familiar faces, but some newcomers as well who will try to be ready for the start of the performances.
The new performance for the upcoming season is called “Tell Tale Heart,” which is a famous short story by Edgar Allen Poe. The Marching band put in countless hours over the summer to make sure they were all on the same page when it came to performing the performance.
Learning an entire new performance and perfecting it in the span of a couple months can be very difficult. Drumline captain Colin Johansen says “It can be very difficult if you don’t have your part memorized, but with everyone working hard over the summer we should be able to be ready to go”
Their first performance is scheduled against Roxbury on September 21st at 5 pm with performances after against Randolph, Governor Livingston, and Vernon. The Marching Band is also present at the majority of the Madison Dodger Football games.
