Madison, NJ – With a 3-1 record so far, Madison Girls Soccer is making waves. After overcoming Hanover Park, Elizabeth, and Morris Tech, it’s time we look at the man behind the team and his opinions, Marc Dovico.
Before he came to dodgertown, Dovico was the head coach of the Whippany Park Girls Soccer from 2012 to 2021. In those 10 seasons, Whippany Park procured two sectional titles in 2015 and 2021, and two conference titles in 2016 and 2019.
After a successful season last year, with the girls at 16-2-2, 11-0 in the NJAC Liberty division, and procuring a spot in the final round of the NJSIAA North Jersey, Section 2, Group 2, much is expected of the program this year.
Dovico said, “The team has performed well throughout summer sessions, preseason, and beginning of the regular season. Their hard work and performance has shown an eagerness to attain the same if not better results from the 2023 season where we won a conference championship and reached a state sectional final”.
But after losing eleven seniors from the 2024 graduating class, the pressure is on for debuting and returning players to make up for their losses.
Dovico stated, “We have a large group of players making their debut this season on varsity. Their soccer playing experience and offseason training will be vital to the continued success of this program”.
Notable players this season include forward Maddie Aromando ‘25 , defender Avery Visich ‘25, forward Leah Fass ‘25, defender Gabby Mariani ‘25, midfielder Anna Gominiak ‘26, back defender Kate Reigle ‘26, midfielder Camryn Visich ‘26, and goalie Antonia Waddington ‘26.
“We have the potential for high levels of success but it will be dependent on how much our players want to grow as a team and put in the work that is necessary to continue our winning tradition” Dovico explained.
Their next game is on September 17, 2024 at 4:00 PM EST at Ted Monica Field. Playing against Coach Dovicos previous team, the Whippany Park Wildcats.
