On Sunday, February 25, 2024 ex NFL Quarterback Cam Newton was attacked at a youth football football tournament in Atlanta. The event was one of Newton’s own tournaments for his organization called C1N. According to C1N’s website they are a “professional sports organization founded by NFL quarterback Cam Newton. The organization focuses on developing young athletes’ skills in football by providing opportunities to compete at the highest level through 7v7 tournaments and other events.”
The only evidence of the altercation are videos that surfaced on social media. They show Newton standing around and all the sudden a fight broke out between a group of people. Newton was found in the middle of the altercation and 3 attackers are seen grabbing and pulling at him. Newton was relatively unfazed by the attackers and was able to throw two of them off quickly. One remained wrapped around him and out of nowhere another threw a punch right at Newton’s face. It is unclear if that punch landed but it does seem to hit someone in the fight. After that punch the police and staff got involved calming everyone down and separating Newton and the attackers.
No other information has been released about the attacks and Newton has not made a statement yet. These events have gained a lot of popularity and attention in the media over the past couple of years and are the new big thing in football. So with more of these 7v7s occurring, the security protocols of these events will most likely be amended.
