Boys and Girls Golf Season Preview 2021-22

Madison’s boys and girls golf teams have started their seasons with multiple matches this past week, with the boys having a match on Monday April 4 and the girls having a match on Wednesday April 6. Unfortunately, due to weather conditions, both teams’ matches on Thursday April 7 were canceled.

The boys roster for this season includes: seniors Andrew Cimino, Seamus Doherty, Grayson Farrell, Jonathan Feuerstein, Matthias Hendrickson, Doug Hoeflin, Shane Sabol, and John Stuart; juniors Luke Aromando, John Hunter, Jackson Koehler, Devan Patel, Christopher Piacenti, Eric Selquist, and William Sittig; sophomores Hendrix Farrell, Tommy Luciano, Henry McCann, and Nathan Tallinder; and freshmen Fenton Bailey, John Davidson, Ryan Delaney, Alex Patel, Justin Rukaj, and Aiden Shah with head coach Matthew Millichap and assistant coach Nick Liberato.

The girls roster for this season includes: seniors Maddie Cammarata, Sophie Chau, Morgan Driscoll, Kayla Mercado, and Charlotte Preston; juniors Sophia Fee, Nina Kornchanul, Dominique Maltese, Emma Peifly, Hope Reilly, and Erin Scheier; and freshmen Zoe Avazis, Charlotte Dunn, Emma Engell, Amelia Kisakowski, Allison Malloy, Sydney Peifly, and Caitlyn Piotrowsky with head coach Paige Diamond.

The boys started their season off strong, winning their first match against Morristown Beard at the Morris County Golf Club. The final score was 162-178. The girls also took their first win against Parsippany at the Pinch Brook Golf Course. Madison dominated with a final score of 190-213. With this first win, junior captain Emma Peifly is confident in her team and excited about their future successes: “From winning our first match, and having almost the exact same varsity team as last year, I am so excited to see where this season will take us. I’m pretty confident in this season due to all of the returning players and separate practicing we’ve done. All of our scores have already improved compared to the start of last season which is a great indication of how our team will do. I’m so excited for another successful season!!”

With such great feats so early in the season, the future is looking bright for both of these teams. We can be sure to expect many more wins this year for Madison Golf.
