In this game you will play as a pirate who can have up to a four person crew and sail the sea of thieves. Sea of Thieves is available on all recent Xbox consoles and is available on Steam!
The game has over 48 islands around the map, they range from very small to massive and also vary in their environment due to their region on the map. With getting to these islands you will need a ship, and that you must choose wisely. There are three different types of boats you can sail on that fit your crew size, with sloops being for one to two players, brigantines being for two to three people and galleons being for three to four people.
The game has an amazing soundtrack that plays throughout your adventures. Pirates also have an array of instruments such as the hurdy-gurdy, concertina, banjos and a drum. Pirates are currently able to play up to 13 different shantys with more to hopefully come in the future.
As any pirate should, your main goal is to grow in wealth and to claim the sea of thieves for your own. Pirates have multiple factions to work for and represent to get rich fast! Different factions have different quests in order to get your gold and you will be rewarded with a faction level increase and gold for all your treasures sold. But when on your adventure, beware, other players may see you as a threat and choose to battle and plunder your crew and your ship. If you land victories their treasure is for the taking. But if you are to be defeated your ship will sink, treasure will be gone and you will be forced to respawn with your ship on a forign outpost or island.
On August 4th, 2022, Sea of Thieves released a new season update called the Captaincy update. Pirates are now able to own their ships (by creating a preset) , name their ships and furthermore decorate their ships to their hearts delight. Players are now able to sell to a group called the sovereigns, which allow players to sell most items to them instead of scattering outposts to sell to specific factions. This update has really paved the way for Captain and ship personalization and I believe the future for Sea of Thieves will shiver my timbers!
