At Madison High School, students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of clubs. Interact Club, being one of the many clubs offered, has shown to be very popular. The club provides its members with a numerous amount of opportunity, whether that is working events, or even creating ones of their own. Students are able to give their service to the community, and raise money for charities like the Maasai Girls Fund. Further information on this charity can be found on their Instagram page: @mhs__interact.
In fact, juniors Alexandra Porio and Kate Mack have created an event of their own. These students have organized a book sale, collecting book donations from those who are happy to provide! From there, they began selling them at local elementary schools. All proceeds from the sales are furthered to the Maasai Girls Fund. Porio and Mack say they were inspired by the scholastic book fairs, and wanted to do something similar of their own. They believed it would be a great way to raise money, and as we have seen, they were right! The entire event has been a huge success, allowing other Interact Club members to become involved as well. Specifically, Alexandra Porio said, “it was a new and creative way to collect money and donations that would be helpful to those in need, like the girls of the Maasai girls fund”.
One more book sale still remains to happen on the 27th of March, but so far, they have managed to raise over $300 dollars!!
