Madison High School’s spring musical this year was nothing short of fantastic. Audiences of all ages who attended the play this weekend provided only positive feedback about the performance. The music was produced by Alan Menken, with lyrics by Glenn Slater, and the book written by Cheri and Bill Steinkellner, bringing the play to life.
For those who may not be familiar, *Sister Act* is a warm, comedic story that follows the life of nightclub singer Deloris Van Cartier. After witnessing a crime, Deloris enters witness protection and hides in a convent, where she must disguise herself as a nun and adapt to an entirely new lifestyle. However, her talented singing voice and vibrant personality shine through.
The story revolves around music and emphasizes themes of friendship and mischief. Deloris, with her incredible voice, helps the convent’s struggling choir rediscover their sound. With its joyful songs, plenty of laughter, and a focus on sisterhood, *Sister Act* brings audiences together.
This powerful story features a dynamic cast and qualities that are hard to ignore. Let’s hear from the crew who dedicated countless hours to making this production successful. Not only were they committed, but they also enjoyed themselves immensely. Rosemary Kupper shared, “This year’s cast was special. We all formed new friendships and became a tight-knit community.” They had a wonderful time creating a story filled with creativity and camaraderie. Although the process was challenging, Libby, who played Sister Mary Patrick, stated, “Being in the musical is difficult, and the long, tiring hours are worth it in the end when we can perform in front of a large audience.” Similar sentiments were expressed by Becca, who played Sister Mary Robert, and Amal, the pianist; they all found the experience immensely rewarding.
This show was not one to be missed, as audiences have consistently left satisfied. Although the performances ended this weekend, make sure to attend the next spring musical or explore the *Sister Act* story further!
