Harlem Wizards at MHS

On Wednesday, April 26, Madison High School welcomed the Harlem Wizards for a fundraising basketball game. This annual game is a fun day of open to the entire Madison community. The game itself is the Wizards versus the MHS teachers and faculty. MDO sat down with MHS nurse, Diane Fastiggi (DF), who coordinated the event, and asked her about it.

MDO: What exactly is the Wizards Game fundraiser?

DF: A basketball game with a Madison faculty team playing against the “Harlem Wizards” a basketball team of semi-professional players who use “tricks, hoops and alleyoops” to make the game fun. Students pack the audience to see their teachers play in the game. The Wizards poke fun at the teachers and faculty who play in the game.

MDO: What will the money be going to?

DF: The senior’s Graduation Gala.

MDO: How did the game go?

DF: It’s always amazing; laughter and smiles abound. The Wizards always win but the MHS faculty tries their best.

MDO: Did you enjoy it?

DF: As the person responsible for running the event, I always enjoy watching the audience as they are engaged and smiling the whole time.

MDO: Do you think this is something MHS will do again?

DF: Every year!

MDO: What was your favorite part?

DF: Looking up into the audience and seeing kids and adults having fun and laughing. It’s a great family event.
