2016 Wasn’t THAT Bad
The year 2016 pulled on the heartstrings of many as the world mourned the loss of beloved entertainers and democracy alike. The first couple weeks of January were spent as a buffer – a time of remembrance for everyone and everything that succumbed to the dark lord of 2016. However, not everything in 2016 was stress-inducing. In the famous words of Harper Lee, “Things are never as bad as they seem.”
Here are some of the good things that happened in 2016:
- Beyonce’s “Lemonade”
Unfortunately, 2016 was pretty bad. Here are some of the bad things that happened in 2016:
- David Bowie died on January 10
- Harper Lee died on February 19
- Frank Sinatra Jr. died on March 16
- Erik Bauersfeld (Admiral Ackbar) died on April 3
- Prince died on April 21
- Muhammad Ali died on June 3
- Christina Grimmie died on June 10
- 49 killed in Pulse nightclub shooting June 12
- Elie Wiesel died on July 2
- Leonard Cohen died on November 7
- The Democratic Party died on November 8
- George Michael died on December 25
- Carrie Fisher died on December 27
- Debbie Reynolds died on December 28
- White supremacists rebrand themselves as “Alt-Right”
- First major female presidential candidate wins popular vote but loses election
Despite all the losses, it’s never wise to dwell in the past. 2017 will be a year full of winning. So much winning that we’ll get tired of winning.
