The Fashion Rule Everyone has Been Breaking
Ever since I was a little girl I excitedly awaited Memorial Day Weekend. However, my excitement wasn’t for a one or two day long weekend or the beach trip I had planned. I was excited because it was finally socially acceptable to wear white pants or shorts. I’m not kidding, I yearned to wear the white pants that sat in my closet, which I sported from MDW to LDW. Everyone I knew followed this “rule.” It was horrible.
But I guess what’s in right now is rule breaking. Slowly but surely, the idea that it is acceptable to wear white pants past their expiration date has trickled through society. Even major celebrities and fashion icons have broken this rule.
Although some of the older generations twitch when they see someone wearing white pants, this trend is still acceptable. Many are against this trend, but in my opinion, white pants should not have an expiration date, and are acceptable as long as they are worn with consideration of the occasion, weather, and season.
Although celebrities have ignored this rule, the student body, as judged by a poll taken on MDOs Twitter, is still undecided. 50% of MDOs followers who took the poll voted that it is okay to wear white pants past LDW, and 50% voted that it was not okay.
