Mets Postseason Update
Two weeks ago, the Mets successfully clinched their first NL East title since 2006 with a win over the Cardinals scoring 10 runs to their 2. After a mix of exciting emotions, the Mets began preparing for their postseason series in the National League Division Series (NLDS) vs. the Los Angeles Dodgers. The first two games of the series were played at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, and the following two at Citi Field in the Queens. So far, the Mets are leading the series (2-1) with each game having its ups and downs.
GAME ONE- Mets W(3-1): Kershaw (Dodgers) vs. Degram (Mets). With no runs scored yet, Daniel Murphy of the Mets took the plate in the top of the fourth inning. To score the first run, Murphy homered down the right line field. Leading (1-0) into the seventh inning, Mets David Wright singled with the bases loaded allowing two runs to be scored (3-0). The next inning, the Dodgers were able to score one run, but it wasn’t enough. The Mets came out on top with their first win!
GAME TWO: Dodgers W(6-3) Greinke (Dodgers) vs. Syndergaard (Mets). Led by Cy Young hopeful Zack Greinke the Dodgers outdueled Mets Young gun Noah Synergaard with a final score of 5-2. The game will have a much larger meaning when it comes to future rules of sliding, due to the injury of Ruben Tejada inflicted by Chase Utley. In the top of the seventh Chase Utley took out Tejada with a controversial slide which spun his ankle 180 degrees and broke his right fibula instantly. Utley clearly went into second base attempting to break up the play which only seemed to succeed with an injury. Utley has become a villain and #winforruben is trending on twitter.
***Utley was later suspended for two games, however, he has appealed this and is able to play in the preceding games due to appealing rules.
GAME THREE: Mets W(13-7) Andersson (Dodgers) vs. Harvey (Mets). After a very controversial game 2, the Mets were more motivated than ever. Harvey started out shaky, allowing 3 runs scored in the first two innings. However, the Mets were able to fight back directly after and scored 4 runs to lead the game. It was a glorious night to be a Mets fan, after they won the game 13-7 against the Dodgers. They achieved the highest runs scored in a playoff game yet and are determined to keep that trend going.
Tonight, game four will be played at Citi Field in the Queens just after 8pm. Kershaw from the Dodgers will be the starting pitcher with hopes to dominate the Mets. The Mets will be starting rookie pitcher Steven Matz who has been preparing for this night for weeks. If the Mets come out on top, they will automatically move on to the next round, giving them one step closer to becoming National Champions.

Really good article. Too bad that the Mets could not win the world series this years but they will be a contender for years to come.
